Zaheer Popo, organist in residence at Grace United Methodist Church, will join the Olathe Community Orchestra for a concert of works for organ and orchestra. The program will feature Mr. Popo on the Concerto in C for Organ by Haydn. He will also join the orchestra for Albinoni's Adagio for Organ and Strings and Widor's Organ Symphony No. 6

Zaheer Popo is a graduate student in the Organ and Church Music Program at the University of Kansas. Born and raised on the Caribbean Island of St. Lucia, Zaheer had few local influences, namely Sir Leton Thomas and Mr. and Mrs. John and Arletta Bailey. He is also inspired by continental artists such as Jeremy Filsell and the late John Scott. Like most organists, he has not shied away from choral work, singing and holding directorships both at home and in the United States. Zaheer’s recitals frequently feature the full spectrum of the classical repertoire including modern compositions. He currently studies with Dr. James Higdon and is the organist at Grace United Methodist Church in Olathe, Kansas.'
